Ilixium cards, Apple Pay, tokens and credits

What a payment routed to Ilixium needs, and how its outcomes reach you.

Card payments

  • Send browser_info and options.date_of_birth (YYYY-MM-DD) with every card payment: Ilixium runs its own 3-D Secure and refuses a card payment without them.
  • 3-D Secure: the authorize answer is a form_submit to the card issuer's page; after the customer completes it, the payment is approved (captured) or declined. Ilixium has a 30-minute window for the customer to finish.
  • A card payment is authorized and then captured by the gateway; you see one PURCHASE.
  • For Canadian customers send customer.region (for example BC).
  • Send customer.id when you want to reuse the card later with an Ilixium token (see Provider Token); without it Ilixium uses an id derived from the e-mail, and the token is not returned.

Apple Pay

Apple Pay is supported both ways: the gateway decrypts the Apple Pay token (payment_method.type apple-pay), or you decrypt it yourself and send a network token with source apple-pay. Ilixium checks the customer's address: send a complete address, and for Canada a valid province in customer.region.

Refunds and credits

  • REFUND (full or partial) goes back to the card of the payment, up to the payment amount.
  • CREDIT pays money back to the card of an approved payment, and is not capped by the payment amount. It is available only where your terminal and Ilixium account have credits turned on; ask your account manager. Every credit needs its own transaction_reference: sending it again returns the first credit. The credit window and the full rules are in Transaction Management.

Outcomes

  • Ilixium sends no notifications for these payments: when an answer is unclear (for example a timeout), the transaction stays PENDING and the gateway settles it from Ilixium's own history within minutes; you then receive the usual webhook.
  • A refund or credit whose answer was lost is never sent again: it stays PENDING until Ilixium's history shows it, and is never closed automatically. Do not send a new credit with a new transaction_reference while one is PENDING: it would be a second payout.
